Davis Square Architects is working with Worcester Common Ground on WCG Homes, a scattered site project that includes renovations to 16 buildings of varying sizes that will provide a total of 73 rental units of affordable housing.
Four of the buildings will receive a complete renovation with DER (Deep Energy Retrofit) upgrades and conversion to all electric. Most are historic and require special attention to the exterior facades and some also include ground-floor commercial spaces. WCG’s continuing focus on the rehabilitation of existing properties in Worcester’s Piedmont neighborhood, and on the residents who have in some cases lived in these buildings for many years, is vital to upgrading the structures and implementing new sustainable practices.
