In productive collaboration with Tenants’ Development Corporation, Davis Square Architects rehabilitated 285 units of housing in 56 buildings scattered throughout Boston’s South End Historic District. The design strategy combined respect for the architectural integrity of the original buildings with attention to residents’ current needs.

Apartments were completely renovated, systems updated, and 10 units plus a new community room were made handicapped-accessible. Custom windows, historic mahogany doors, and extensive masonry work returned the buildings to their original grandeur. Through SETH I & II, important pieces of the South End urban fabric were repaired and made viable for continued use as affordable housing.
