Built in 1981, Palmer Green Estates was more than ready for a significant makeover into the 21st century. Working closely with Beacon Communities, Davis Square Architects revitalized and transformed this 27-building, 156-unit affordable senior and multi-family community in Palmer, MA, home to more than half of the town’s affordable housing stock. Extensive improvements were required to preserve this essential resource, such as plumbing, heating, energy efficiency and accessibility upgrades, kitchen and bathroom renovations, and replacing all roofing, siding, windows and exterior doors.
One highlight of the project in particular was the beautifully modernized community center, featuring a shared kitchen, computer lab and function space. The development also includes a redesigned outdoor pool, tot lot and basketball courts, making Palmer Green a great community for both seniors and families to call home.
