Make-It Springfield is a community incubator and workshop space for people to make, create and share their abilities and tools, providing a platform for community members of all skill levels, backgrounds and ages to learn, build relationships, launch businesses and inspire one another.
When Make-It Springfield outgrew their original makerspace, they teamed up with Davis Square Architects on the substantial renovation of four levels in an historic downtown building that dates back to the early 20th century. The new makerspace provides workshop, display, classroom, presentation, and assembly spaces, as well as related accessory spaces for craftspeople, artisans, and artists.
The renovation included updating all the necessary systems for the10,300 sf of new space now located in the former home of a carpet and flooring retail store founded in 1919. The completed Make-It Springfield project is another exciting step in the rejuvenation of downtown Springfield!
