Bright Horizons | Brookline

On busy Harvard Street in Brookline, Davis Square Architects overcame a collection of site, circulation and architectural challenges to transform a 1970s office building into a light-filled and roomy child care center. Where the original building rose above a dark parking area, the new facility offers a landscape of sheltered outdoor play space and sunny planted areas at ground level. A second floor floating above the parking area was connected to the ground with a sculptural ramp. Two floors of drab office space were also converted into bright and spacious classrooms and play areas.
