Info

Located in an affluent Brookline neighborhood just down the street from JFK’s birthplace, Beals Street Housing provides housing for 30 formerly homeless individuals. The property consists of two historic buildings built around 1904, which were originally two-family duplexes. For the past 30 years, the buildings have served as lodging houses with single rooms and shared amenities without any common space for socializing. Davis Square Architects worked with Pine Street Inn to convert the buildings into enhanced SROs with their own amenities, and added a common kitchen, dining space and laundry facilities. Accessibility, MEP, life safety and security systems upgrades as well as window and roof replacements were also included.
