Our urban agriculture project with Regional Environmental Council (REC) in Worcester has officially broken ground! DSA’s Lia Scheele, RA, NOMA, LEED AP, CPHC was excited to attend the ceremony for what will expand and improve the Center for Urban Agriculture & Food Security, celebrating with local officials, REC members, their community partners, and youth leaders.
The project is the addition of a new polycarbonate double greenhouse, which will expand the growing season and add education space. REC is a nonprofit organization promoting urban farming, gardening, and food security through programs such as farmer's markets and YouthGROW, an urban agriculture-focused youth development and employment program for Worcester teens.
The renovations will support REC’s continued growth with improvements to the farm while also creating opportunities for local youth, strengthening access to healthy, locally grown food for generations to come. We’re thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful project and team.
