A groundbreaking ceremony was held this week for the West Newton Armory, one of DSA’s current Passive House projects with Metro West Collaborative Development and Civico!
This exciting adaptive reuse of the historic West Newton Armory into multi-generational affordable housing provides a new building with 43 units, while preserving the castle-like appearance of the existing building's front façade for office and community spaces. The design involves elaborate outdoor space and enhanced accessibility, and also includes accessible garage parking for residents.
The redevelopment incorporates improvements to reactivate the historic Armory, highly efficient sustainability elements that achieve Phius CORE 2021 Design certification, and features all-electric infrastructure and rooftop solar panels.
