DSA’s Ross Speer was one of a number of individuals who were happy to share a few words of congratulations during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Carol Ave Apartments in Brighton. Due to the day’s terrible weather, attendees gathered in one of the renovated units for the celebration and the sharing of positive and enthusiastic messages.
This extensive renovation project was one of — if not the first — Deep Energy Retrofits (DER) and complete electrification of an existing historic building in the City of Boston. The Carol Ave Apartments development, estimated to have been built circa 1910, includes 3 buildings and provides 33 rental units, all designated as affordable. This project with Allston Brighton CDC was supported via a number of different funding sources, including among others the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), MassDevelopment, and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). Congratulations team, well done!
