A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Northampton Lumber Yard, one of Davis Square Architects’ current projects. Owned by Valley Community Development Corporation, Northampton Lumber Yard is a new construction, mixed-use development which transforms a former abandoned lumberyard into 55 units of affordable rental housing as well as new office space for Valley CDC, and Pleasant Street-facing commercial and retail space in downtown Northampton. Attending the event were Mayor David Narkewicz, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Jay Ash, Valley CDC’s Executive Director Joanne Campbell, CEDAC’s Director of Housing for Central and Western Massachusetts Lionel Romain, and Way Finders’ President and CEO Peter Gagliardi.
