Thomas Burns

Job Captain

Thomas Burns joined Davis Square Architects in 2013. He is responsible for drafting plans, details and elevations, participating in project design tasks, conducting site surveys and coordinating drawings. Among his current projects is Mission Park Stairs, which is the replacement of 150 sets of existing wood stairs with galvanized steel stairs at a housing development in the heart of Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. Thomas has also recently completed work on the Historic South End Apartments renovations, a rehabilitation spanning 32 buildings in Boston’s South End neighborhood.

His coursework included traveling to Haiti to study the challenges in building safe housing, and as a result the study helped him assess the role of designers in the world and sparked his interest in international community development. He has since continued his studies and commitment to working in public interest design both domestically and internationally. Thomas’s endeavors are also shaped by his interest in seeking and expanding upon opportunities for the profession to improve the lives of all people through design.
