Davis Square Architects is currently working with Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA) and the Boston Housing Authority on renovations to West Newton Rutland Apartments, an affordable development spanning 146 units in 24 historic brick townhouses in Boston’s South End.

The occupied rehab includes upgrades such as life safety, accessibility, ventilation and energy efficiency, while also restoring the buildings’ original historic character and making better use of limited outdoor space with landscape improvements and greenspaces. Common areas will also be renovated, and units will receive new kitchens and bathrooms as well as new doors, windows and flooring. Sustainable features include high-efficiency heating systems and efficient lighting. Residents will also be connected to IBA’s full range of services, including workforce development, case management, advocacy, preschool and youth programs, arts and cultural programs, and more.
