Davis Square Architects worked with the Housing Corporation of Arlington to develop Downing Square/117 Broadway, the new construction of three scattered-site buildings consisting of 48 affordable rental units. This smart growth project not only provides affordable housing resources, but also contributes to the community by transforming vacant land. Our close collaboration with many consultants ensured compliance with all zoning, environmental, and topographical requirements of tight suburban sites.
The Downing Square site in Arlington Heights includes a four-story 28-unit building and a three-story 6-unit building. Its convenient location directly next to the Minuteman Bikeway encourages healthy, sustainable living for residents through easy access and alternative transportation.
The 117 Broadway building in East Arlington is three stories with 14 units, atop a ground-floor commercial space that encourages pedestrian traffic and brings new life to the neighborhood. We also worked with the commercial tenant’s architect to smooth the development of their space.
