Faced with the challenge of building a modern childcare center in a tight historic space on an even tighter deadline, Bright Horizons called Davis Square Architects for help. Our problem-solving skills and deep experience working with the City of Boston helped embrace the challenges of a quick turnaround time, and aligned the diverging expectations of end user, Historical Commission, and licensing codes and regulations.

Located in the heart of Boston’s Copley Square neighborhood in the historic New England Power Building, the center maintains original historic details while meeting Bright Horizon’s high standards for child-friendly and functional spaces. The design team worked closely with an historic consultant to develop Massachusetts Historical Commission submissions for specific approvals, design and detailing, all on an accelerated schedule; enabling a seamless process and a faster occupancy for Bright Horizons.
