Davis Square Architects worked with Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation (DBEDC) on a new senior living community that provides 43 affordable senior rental units in Dorchester’s Upham’s Corner neighborhood. This new five-story development includes both one- and two-bedroom apartments, along with a multi-purpose room for both residents and community members, bike storage, laundry facilities and a roof terrace. Off-street parking spaces and connections to nearby amenities such as gardens and playgrounds are also provided for residents.
The thoughtful repurposing of a formerly vacant lot, 9 Leyland Street is conveniently close to several bus routes and the MBTA Commuter Rail, and brings significant improvements to the neighborhood by providing much-needed affordable senior housing in a supportive environment that promotes both health and quality of life.
