Info
Located in the City of Lowell’s historic and diverse Acre neighborhood, Davis Square Architects is currently working on a new four-story, 52-unit affordable rental housing project. The site’s existing warehouse was largely demolished, but select portions of the historic facade are being retained and restored, and incorporated into the design.
The development is located across from a Lowell Regional Transit Authority bus stop and less than two miles from the Lowell MBTA Commuter Rail station. Project features include a community room, bike storage, management office, and in-building, street-level parking. Three of the rental units will be set aside for formerly homeless families and three units will be ADA accessible.
733 Broadway will feature all-electric systems and has received Passive House design certification, a process that required unique solutions to support and restore the existing warehouse’s masonry walls and historic windows to National Park Service standards while also meeting Phius thermal bridging, insulation, and air-tightness requirements.
