Darrell Aldrich is an Associate, bringing over 45 years of architectural experience and extensive knowledge in construction administration. He joined Davis Square Architects in 1995 and has worked on numerous masterplans, residential developments, academic and institutional structures, private residences and complex renovations, as well as mid- and high-rise residential buildings.
Darrell worked on the Cataldo Ambulance Operations Center, a new 12,000 sf building that houses their executive offices, communication center, meeting spaces, fully equipped simulation lab, and a garage for their service delivery vehicles. Other projects include Leyden Woods, a master planning study and sustainable, modular reconstruction of a 200-unit existing development; historical renovations on Marlborough Street and Cortes Street, located in two of Boston’s historic neighborhoods; and many other new multi-family and mixed-use projects throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Prior to joining Davis Square Architects, Darrell established Praxis Architecture, a small studio specializing in new, high-end single-family residences, commercial offices and historical renovations, with projects in Colorado, Vermont, and Massachusetts. His designs have been published in periodicals and textbooks.
Darrell has taught design studios and Building Construction Methods and Materials classes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Citizens of Adequate Housing, Inc., as well as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for Manchester, Massachusetts.
